Miss St. Francis Scholarship Pageant Contestant Orientation Feb. 24th

Young women interested in participating in the 49th Annual 2013 Miss St Francis scholarship pageant should plan to attend the orientation meeting on Sunday, February 24th,, at the St. Francis Lions Community Center, 3476 E. Howard Avenue, beginning at 1:00 pm. Participants should be prepared to have an individual photo taken for the program book following the meeting.

The program is rated as one of the state's best, offering over $5,500 in cash scholarships for area young women in 2012. The 2013 event will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Saint Thomas More High School.

Applications are available on the Miss St. Francis website: http://missstfrancis.com Interested young women may contact Steve Hecker at 414-545-3015, Dave Goltz at 414-483-8353 or Dane Czeszak at 414-481-0511 to obtain an application. Contestants may also reserve their participation by contacting Steve, Dave or Diane by FEBRUARY 20th, and bringing their completed application to the orientation meeting. Participation is limited to ten contestants.

To be eligible to compete for the title of Miss St Francis, contestants should live (previous one year), work full time (for the previous one year) or be a full-time student in the cities of St. Francis, Cudahy, South Milwaukee, Oak Creek or in the 53207 zip code area of Milwaukee (Bay View). Candidates must be a U.S. Citizen; must single (never married or been pregnant); must not have been a previous Miss St. Francis or held a STATE title in the Miss America pageant system; be between the ages of 17 and 24 by December 31, 2013 and a high school graduate by June of this year.

The 2013 titleholder will succeed Miss St Francis 2012, Colleen Mrotek Bay View. Colleen received a $2,000 scholarship, and was a top 10 finalist at Miss Wisconsin earning additional scholarships. 1st and 2nd runner-ups scholarships were offered in the amounts of $1,000 and $700 respectively. Each Miss St. Francis contestant will be offered at least a $200 scholarship in addition to other special cash scholarship awards: George P. George Miss Congeniality, Robert R. Freimuth Non-Finalist Talent, Rob Schneider Non- Finalist Interview, Chaperone Memorial and Pageant promotion for Ticket & Ad Sales

There is no entry fee. Contestants are asked to secure $100 in donations to the Miss America national charity – Children’s Miracle Network Hospital.

As a preliminary to the Miss Wisconsin and Miss America programs, Miss St. Francis pageant participants are judged in the following areas of competition: private interview, talent, evening wear, life-style & fitness in swimsuit and on-stage interview. The winner participates in community events throughout the year, promotes her personal platform and earns the opportunity to compete for additional scholarships and the title of Miss Wisconsin in June 16-22, 2013. Our current Miss Wisconsin is Kate Gorman of La Crosse.
