Wisconsin Senior Olympics Holds Health and Wellness Expo

(Milwaukee, WI August 22, 2012)— The Wisconsin Senior Olympics will host a Health and Wellness Expo on Wednesday, September 5 from 4:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. prior to the Celebration of Athletes banquet and it is open to the public. Senior Olympic Athletes from though out the state of Wisconsin will be in attendance. The Health and Wellness Expo and Banquet will be held at Knights of Columbus located at 1800 S. 92nd Street in West Allis. “This is a time that we celebrate our senior athletes and their accomplishments and we will also promote health and fitness to the public at the same time,” said John White, President. “We are featuring the Expo prior to our state annual celebration of athletes banquet to try and attract more people to participate in the senior Olympic games, promote wellness and increase awareness overall of Wisconsin Senior Olympics. We are very pleased to offer this new event to the public. Anyone who attends is also invited to stay for the banquet for only $5.00 per person,” he continued.

The Health and Wellness Expo will open at 4:00 p.m. followed by the Opening Ceremonies at 5:30 and the Celebration of Athletes Dinner at 6:00 p.m. for only $5.00 per person and can be paid at the door. The ceremony will include a key note speaker, Wisconsin Senior Olympics Hall of Fame inductee, 2012 Service Award winner, recognition of the Emeritus Board Members and awarding the Volunteer of the Year. It is a great celebration that everyone will enjoy.

The Wisconsin Senior Olympics has a mission to provide Wisconsin’s older adults the opportunity to maintain and improve their overall fitness and wellness, through recreational, social and competitive events. The Senior Olympics encourages older adults to stay active, and gives them a reason to renew past skills or learn new ones. Key goals are to: maintain and improve the health and wellness of Wisconsin’s seniors, provide a competitive athletic, recreational and creative experience and to provide an opportunity for socialization for seniors from across the state.
