CUDAHY

THEFT

A 49-year-old man was arrested for retail theft after trying to steal personal hygiene items from Pick 'n Save, 5851 S. Packard Ave., about 4:30 p.m. Jan. 9. The man was also arrested in November in West Allis for trying to steal beef jerky from a store.

DRUG POSSESSION

A 20-year-old South Milwaukee man was arrested for possession of a controlled substance after police found marijuana in his vehicle during a traffic stop in the 6000 block of Barland Avenue about 1 a.m. Jan. 11.

Two men from Cudahy, ages 21 and 18, were arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance after police responded to a call of the scent of marijuana coming from a residence in the 3800 block of East Edgerton Avenue about 3:15 a.m. Jan. 14.

DRUNKEN DRIVING

A 34-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving in the 3000 block of East Layton Avenue about 3:10 a.m. Jan. 14. The man's blood alcohol content was 0.17.

A 27-year-old Cudahy woman was arrested for drunken driving in the 3600 block of East Squire Avenue about 2:40 a.m. Jan. 15. The woman's BAC was 0.13. The woman was following another vehicle, both of which were speeding, on Layton Avenue. The driver of that vehicle, a 32-year-old Milwaukee man, was stopped at the same time as the woman and was also arrested for drunken driving. His BAC was. 0.24.

VANDALISM

A vehicle's window was smashed in the 3700 block of East Layton Avenue sometime between 3 p.m. Jan. 13 and 1:34 p.m. Jan. 16.

OTHER

A 60-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for disorderly conduct after he apparently pulled a fire alarm at an apartment building in the 6100 block of South Packard Avenue about 5:30 a.m. Jan. 12.

A 52-year-old Cudahy man was arrested for disorderly conduct after he was yelling obscenities, for no particular reason, inside an apartment complex in the 5100 block of South Swift Avenue about 7:30 p.m. Jan. 14. The man told police he was in the wrong apartment complex, but as he began to walk toward the correct complex, he began shouting at police, at which point he was arrested.

SOUTH MILWAUKEE

BURGLARY

A video game system, wallet and duffle bag were taken from a home in the 1000 block of Madison Avenue before 7:40 p.m. Jan. 9. The home had been left open because the lock had recently broken, and a window with a broken latch was found open in the back of the house.

Televisions were taken from a home in the 3400 block of Blakewood Avenue. The break-in was reported about 12:40 p.m. Jan. 16. Loss is estimated at $6,000.

Two toolboxes, a ratchet set and other tools were taken from a building in the 900 block of Milwaukee Avenue during the past four months. The items owner had not been in the building during that period. Loss is estimated at more than $300.

THEFT

A refrigerator was taken from an apartment in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue between noon Jan. 1 and 1 p.m. Jan. 7. The landlord suspects the tenant took the refrigerator while moving out.

About $250 was taken from the wallet of an employee of CJ Auto Body, 1905 13th Ave., while he worked between noon and 4 p.m. Jan. 18.

A resident at Willowcrest Nursing Home, 3821 S. Chicago Ave., reported his laptop computer had been taken either Jan. 20 or 21. A nurse's aide pointed out the laptop was missing. Loss is estimated at $600. The nursing home is conducting an internal investigation.

DRUNKEN DRIVING

A 64-year-old Franklin woman was arrested for drunken driving after a collision at 12th and Milwaukee avenues about 8 p.m. Jan. 15. Her blood alcohol content was 0.20. There were no injuries as a result of the collision.

A 46-year-old Cudahy man was arrested for intoxicated driving, third offense, at Parkway Drive and Spruce Court about 8:40 p.m. Jan. 17.

A 24-year-old South Milwaukee woman was arrested for drunken driving in the 1200 block of College Avenue at 8:50 p.m. Jan. 19. Her BAC was 0.15.

ACCIDENTS

A 20-year-old Milwaukee woman was cited for failing to report an accident, driving with suspended registration and a suspended license, and not having insurance after a hit-and-run accident at 15th Avenue and Drexel Boulevard about 10:40 a.m. Jan. 20.

VANDALISM

A truck window was shattered in the 3800 block of South Chicago Avenue. The incident was reported at 10:44 a.m. Jan. 16. Damage is estimated at $500.

A pellet gun was used to shoot holes in a streetlight lens in the 1600 block of Sherman Avenue. The damage, reported at 11 a.m. Jan. 19, is estimated at $20.

OTHER

A South Milwaukee woman who thought she had found a job via craigslist was scammed Jan. 5. The supposed employer sent her a check for $2,250, and told her to take $400 for wages and $146 for Western Union fees, and to send the rest to the company via Western Union. Her boyfriend deposited the check in his account and sent the rest to the contact information provided. He then was informed by his bank that the check was no good and he would be liable for repaying the bank the full $2,250.

A 20-year-old South Milwaukee man was arrested for eluding an officer and resisting arrest in the 1800 block of 15th Avenue about 8 p.m. Jan. 15. The man and his girlfriend were having a baby shower at a local bar, but the man and two of his friends got in a fight while outside having cigarettes. Officers arrived as the three men were driving away, but when the officer attempted to pull the men over, they sped up instead of pulling over. The chase continued for more than a half-mile, but due to the slippery road conditions, was called off. Officers found the man and his friends at his apartment. The man physically fought with officers as they arrested him.

A 53-year-old South Milwaukee man was arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicants-drugs after a near-collision at Eighth and Milwaukee avenues at 4 p.m. Jan. 20. If convicted, this will be his third OWI offense.
