Woman unharmed after attempted robbery

Cudahy - An 18-year-old Oak Creek woman was unharmed after she was locked in a storage closet following an attempted robbery at Speedway, 4944 S. Packard Ave., on June 16.

The woman told police she was outside the gas station smoking a cigarette on her work break when she was approached by two men. A man wearing dark clothing, a black mask and a hood over his head instructed her to "get inside."

The woman was locked in a cigarette closet behind the cash register, where she remained for five minutes before exiting to find the two men gone and several customers in the store.

Police believe the customers spooked the would-be robbers, as nothing was taken from the cash register.

The first man was described as 6 feet and 200 pounds, and wore all back clothing. The second man was described as 40 years old , wearing a denim jacket with a hooded sweatshirt underneath and blue jeans. They were seen fleeing in a northeast direction down East Somers Avenue.

The men did not harm the woman, nor did they threaten her with a weapon.
