TOPS Club, Inc. suggests adding portion control to your Thanksgiving meal and demonstrates it in a dramatic comparison in this photo. First, the plate has been downsized from 12 inches to 9 inches. Second, each food serving has been decreased in size or a substitution has been made. The 12-inch plate on the left holds a larger portion of turkey with additional gravy. The smaller 9-inch plate on the right has less turkey with no skin and less gravy. The plate on the left includes corn, while the plate on the right includes a bright serving of broccoli. The plate on the left has larger servings of stuffing, sweet potatoes and mashed potatoes than the plate on the right. Also, the plate on the left holds more jellied cranberries. Simply exercising a bit of portion control can help you avoid a diet disaster this Thanksgiving. Visit www.tops.org to learn more about how you can eat sensibly during the holiday season.
