The Way I See It!
I am an Ultra-Conservative, Alpha-Male, True Authentic Leader, Type "C" Personality, who is very active in my community; whether it is donating time, clothes or money for Project Concern or going to Common Council meetings and voicing my opinions. As a blogger, I intend to provide a different viewpoint "The way I see it!" on various world, national and local issues with a few helpful tips & tidbits sprinkled in.
Moving Forward
While Wal-Mart is not everything or all things, it is something. I do not believe in the dooms day prediction of Packard Ave. if Wal-Mart comes to Cudahy. I do believe that Wal-Mart is a piece of the puzzle towards recovery in Cudahy. I do believe that Lee Barzcak can still and will still find tenants of the public market. I feel it will actually get easier for him once Cudahy Station is finalized either way for the clogs Lee needs to find to complete his wheel called the Public Market.

We’d like to set the record straight with regards to claims that Wal-Mart is asking for a taxpayer subsidy to build in Cudahy. Those making this claim are wrong, and are attempting to scare taxpayers and city officials.
Business Conditions
The adding of business conditions on Cudahy Station is tricky, because of the involvement of the council and CDA. If a business is not regulated by municipal ordinance or code (roller rinks hours of operation are in city code, for example), then it would be up to the Plan Commission to put any additional restrictions on a business. The Plan Commission has certain powers and they could have made any reasonable conditions, such as hours of operation, noise, landscaping, at the Plan Commission level.
Truly, What's The Beef With Wal-Mart?
First, it was Jobs and that Wal-Mart pushes out small business.

Wave may look to Oak Creek for training academy
The Milwaukee Wave and Continental Properties Co. Inc. may be looking to Oak Creek as the site for a soccer training academy and Wal-Mart Supercenter. The Cudahy Plan Commission rejected the Wave and Continental's proposal May 5 to build a 60,000-square-foot indoor soccer facility at the abandoned 26-acre Iceport site that also would have included a Wal-Mart Supercenter, a hotel and other retail stores. The proposal to build the project in the Cudahy tax incremental financing district was defeated by a vote of 4-3. "We were stunned, but there's plenty of land available in Oak Creek in tax incremental financing districts," said Mike Lafferty, president of the Wave. Talk Back - How to Make Our City Grow
Many communities have found the right mix of housing, retail and manufacturing to keep it viable and Cudahy needs to do the same. Cities are places where people can live, learn, work, visit and play. They should offer a wide range of services - schools, parks, health care, stores, restaurants and transportation, just to name a few. Cities that are vibrant, safe, and attractive are where residents, visitors and businesses want to be. Cudahy has what is necessary to be successful; it just needs to move forward.

How Childish
At the Plan Commission meeting, I received and handed out “YES Wal-Mart” signs. I kept a few for myself and my two neighbors.
Wal-Mart & Traffic
Some people, when they hear the word “Traffic,” think negative thoughts like traffic jams/grid lock. While some people hear the word “Traffic,” think positive thoughts of increased people, money, and growth.
We can make a difference
As I stated in my State of Cudahy post, just after the “Master Plan” meeting I was talking to Mayor McCue and asked him if he was going to do a State of City address? He looked at me and said he had not thought about it before, but he thought it was a great idea. I was ecstatic to find out he took my suggestion and was going to do it.
Our Aging Community
Have any of our city leaders done anything lately that would enhance life for the elderly? I am not aware, does anyone know? Can someone site a few examples or just one? Maybe I missed it. I am not perfect.
Making Sense of Wal-Mart
One of the battle cries of those against Wal-Mart, is that Wal-Mart is a threat and they run people out of business. This may or may not truly happen. It could be just that those businesses did not want to have the competition, or they closed for other reasons. Many of the small companies just make bad business decisions and it is easier to have a scapegoat like Wal-Mart than blame themselves for their mistakes.
Wal-Mart What IF
After thinking about my comment that I don’t think Mr. Smith and Mayor McCue would be happy if Wal-Mart still built in Cudahy, just not on the Ice Port, I have received a few emails that the people stated a Wal-Mart would be fine for Cudahy, just not on the Ice Port land. After seeing what Austin Texas Wal-Mart will look like, I think that would be perfect if the KRM would come true (If it does, I hope they get private funding for it, not taxes).

TIF's & TID's
Tax Increment Financing, “TIF’s” are not new to Cudahy. Some people think that the proposed Wal-Mart and Cudahy Station are the only projects in a TIF/TID and that is not correct. Cudahy Station has 13 years remaining. TIF’s are a good tool to bring in development.
