Reader Has More on Drug Testing Elected Officials and Politicians

Cudahy, Culture, Wisconsin, Local Government, Drugs

Randy you struck a nerve with question whether drug testing is in the City Employee Manual.  It isn’t in there and it should be!  I hope the Personnel Committee finds the strength to add it.  I came across this online petition to get the U.S. Congress on a federal level to do just what you think Cudahy should do.  We would be light years ahead if we did.  Just think if there were some positive test results.  Well here is the web site.  http://www.petitiononline.com/DTEOAP/petition.html

Guest Blog by Zach Wisniewski - South Milwaukee School District Budget Cuts

Guest Blog, School Board, school, South Milwaukee

Having taken a look at the budget cuts proposed by South Milwaukee School district administration (and presumably approved by the school board), what I don't see in the proposed cuts is a line item noting that administrators will take a pay cut; why is that?  I'd also like to know why members of the school board aren't offering to cut their own pay to help defray in some small way some of the budget cuts.  Why are students, teachers, and parents being asked to sacrifice while the district's administrators and elected official are unwilling to make the same sacrifices?

A Good Government Story

pothole, government, no taxes, socialism, City Hall, The Coffee Party

Sure, government has its flaws, but the current fad of demonizing government it almost to the point of sounding traitorous really gets to me.

The people participating in and cheering this movement on rail against having to pay taxes and fearmonger about "socialism." Yet they benefit every day and in so many ways from government services and infrastructure, including being able to travel on publicly funded (socialized) roadways to get to their rallies, gathering at government buildings and grounds to hold their protests, and relying on publicly funded airwaves to convey their messages.

What is a Comptroller and What was Asked in the Open Records Request Causing the Issue?

Cudahy, James Williamson, Open Records Request, Info

“Blessed is the servant who loves his brother as much when he is sick and useless as when he is well and be of service to him.  And blessed is he who loves his brother as well when he is afar off as when he is by his side, and who would say nothing behind his back he might not, in love, say before his face.”  -  St. Francis of Assisi

Open Carry in Cudahy

Cudahy, Wisconsin, Police, Policy, Guns

Wisconsin is no stranger to the right to bear arms.  Article I, Section 25 of our own State Constitution provides:

The people have the right to keep and bear arms for security, defense, hunting, recreation or any other lawful purpose.

Despite this right,
Wisconsin is one of only two states that completely prohibit anyone but police officers and sheriffs' deputies from carrying concealed weapons for self defense. Colorado, Missouri, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Kansas, and other states all recently passed shall-issue concealed carry bills.
