The Way I See It!

I am an Ultra-Conservative, Alpha-Male, True Authentic Leader, Type "C" Personality, who is very active in my community; whether it is donating time, clothes or money for Project Concern or going to Common Council meetings and voicing my opinions. As a blogger, I intend to provide a different viewpoint "The way I see it!" on various world, national and local issues with a few helpful tips & tidbits sprinkled in.

1)  Vehicle sniff 10-11-08 @ 2259hrs:  request by other Cudahy pd officers on a traffic stop to have k-9 conduct exterior vehicle sniff.  This was k-9’s 1st real on the job sniff.  Occupants asked to exit vehicle.  K-9 was deployed and 3 passes around vehicle were made.  K-9 gave no alert/indication during sniff. 

 

2)  Vehicle sniff 10-11-08 @ 2316hrs:  request by other Cudahy pd officers on a traffic stop to have k-9 conduct exterior vehicle sniff.  Occupants were asked to exit vehicle and k-9 was deployed.  On first pass, k-9 was in odor near seam between front passenger door and front right quarter panel.  K-9 sucked in tongue and sniffed area aggressively.  A second pass was conducted and at same spot, k-9 aggressively sniffed area and began to bark at area.  Temp was 60-65 deg f and windy.

 

K-9 deployed on interior search of vehicle and was immediately in odor by the front passenger seat and floor area.  K-9 then began to bite passenger seat and k-9 was rewarded.  Hand search of vehicle revealed several small pieces of marijuana on the floor of vehicle.  It was known to officers that occupants of vehicle regularly possess and use narcotics. 

 

3)  Vehicle sniff 10-12-9 @ 0122 hrs:  request by other Cudahy pd officers on a field interrogation stop to have k-9 conduct exterior vehicle sniff.  Occupants remained in vehicle.  K-9 deployed and 3 passes around vehicle were conducted.  K-9 gave no alert/indication during sniff.  Temp was 60-65 deg f and windy. 

 

  4)  Vehicle sniff and article search 10-15-08 @ 1829 hrs:  request by Cudahy pd officers out with a vehicle and subjects involved in a gas drive off.  Upon being pulled over, officer observed passenger throw something out the window.  Occupants were detained outside of vehicle.  K-9 deployed and on first pass around vehicle, alerted at front passenger door seam dividing front and rear door.  K-9 sucked in tongue and aggressively sniffed seam.  K-9 then began to scratch at seam.  K-9 praised off and sniff continued.  K-9 did not alert/indicate on rest of vehicle.

 

K-9 deployed on interior search of vehicle and appeared to be in odor throughout the entire vehicle.  K-9 began to aggressively scratch at center armrest in back seat.  K-9 rewarded.  Hand search revealed pieces of marijuana under that armrest.

 

K-9 deployed on article search to attempt to locate object(s) thrown by passenger.  K-9 located and picked up in mouth a baggie of marijuana (7.7 grams).  Located by officers next to this baggie was another baggie of marijuana (6.4 grams).  Subjects arrested. 

 

5)  School search at Germantown high school 10-17-08 @0830 hrs:  conducting student vehicle sniffs at Germantown h.s.  Officer/K-9 assigned to approx. 20-25 vehicles.  K-9 did not indicate on any vehicles.  Only a single pass along driver’s side was done.  Officer approached by Franklin pd k-9 handler Jedd miller requesting I deploy k-9 around a vehicle his k-9 alerted on.  Cudahy k-9 deployed and on 1st pass, alerted on gas cap cover by sucking in tongue and biting cover.  K-9 praised off.  Hand search of vehicle by Germantown officials revealed pieces of marijuana in ashtray on right rear passenger door.  Officials also located sandwich baggies in trunk of vehicle.  It was learned that another k-9 alerted on students locker approx. 1 month earlier and several hundred dollars in cash was located.  Official’s state student is believed to be selling narcotics at school.  Temp 55 deg f. Cloudy, calm winds. 

 

6)  Building search for narcotics 10-17-08 @ 2031hrs:  request by Cudahy officers to search residence with k-9 for narcotics during search warrant.  K-9 deployed and alerted on a chair in a living room by scratching.  Used crack cocaine pipe located.  No other alerts/indications given by k-9.  Hand search did reveal a dinner plate with cocaine residue inside a bedroom dresser drawer.  Resident is a known crack cocaine user. 

 

7)  Vehicle sniff 10-18-08 @ 2139 hrs:  this officer conducted traffic stop on vehicle and detected odor of marijuana in vehicle.  Occupants asked to exit vehicle.  K-9 deployed and on 1st pass, indicated on front drivers door handle by sucking in tongue and aggressively sniffing.  K-9 praised off and sniff continued.  On 2nd and 3rd pass, k-9 again indicated at same location.  K-9 was not deployed inside vehicle.  Hand search of vehicle revealed marijuana roach inside center armrest and small pieces of marijuana on the front floors of vehicle.  Rear seat passenger admitted to smoking marijuana approx. 1 hour earlier.

 

8)  Vehicle sniff 10-18-08 @ 2248 hrs:  request by other Cudahy pd officers to conduct exterior vehicle sniff.  Occupants asked to exit vehicle.  K-9 deployed and 3 passes made around vehicle.  No indications/alert from k-9. 

 

9)  Area search 10-19-08 @ 0336 hrs:  citizen reported hearing knocking on his window.  Upon officers arrival, a neighbors patio door was observed open.  K-9 deployed and resident contacted.  Resident stated he always leaves the door open for his cats.  Unfounded. 

 

10)  Found drug paraphernalia 10-19-09 @ 1736 hrs:  citizen contacted police reporting locating drug paraphernalia in a newly purchased house.  Due to several hazards, k-9 was not deployed to search for additional contraband. 

 

11)  Vehicle sniff 10-20-08 @ 1850 hrs:  request by other Cudahy pd officers on a traffic stop for an exterior vehicle sniff of vehicle.  Occupants asked to exit vehicle.  K-9 deployed and 3 passes around vehicle conducted.  K-9 did not alert/indicate. 

 

12)  Vehicle sniff 10-21-08 @ 1603 hrs:  request by other Cudahy pd officers on a traffic accident for an exterior and interior vehicle sniff.  Subject was in custody.  K-9 deployed and 3 passes conducted around vehicle with no alert/indication. 

 

13)    Barricaded Suspect 11-06-08 @ 0251 HRS:  Cudahy Tactical Team call-up requesting Officer and K-9.  Officer advised by on scene Supervisor that a burglary suspect was currently barricaded in the basement of an apartment complex at 3103 E. Adams Ave.  First responding officers observed suspect in basement through broken window.  Suspect refused to surrender and did not show hands to officers.  Tactical Team assembled.  Basement door was opened and this officer gave commands to suspect 3 times with a megaphone indicating K-9 would be released if suspect did not “sound off” or surrender.  No reply from suspect.  K-9 deployed.  K-9 entered basement and began a search after being given “bark & hold” command.  Tac Team Officers followed and posted at the bottom of the stairs.  K-9 checked basement but did not alert.  Soon, a strong odor of what seemed like gasoline was detected.  Handler recalled K-9 and officers began a hand search of all locked storage lockers.  Officers located suspect in a locked storage locker and gave multiple commands to show hands and exit locker.  Suspect refused.  As k-9 was about to be deployed to apprehend suspect, another lone officer attempted to direct suspect to the ground.  Suspect resisted and K-9 was given “bite” command to assist in the apprehension.  K-9 bit near right ankle.  Immediately, other Tac Officers attempted to control suspect and K-9 was commanded to release.  K-9 did so without hesitation.  K-9 was moved back a few feet to guard suspect until suspect was secured in handcuffs.  A wooden handle “pick” was located on suspect and an open can of turpentine was found in storage unit suspect was in, possibly covering suspects scent.  Suspect received minor wound to right ankle area and was treated by Cudahy FD and at the hospital.  Suspect Arrested & charged with Trespass & Resisting an Officer. 

 

14)    Cudahy High School Sweep:  Sweep of Cudahy High School lockers and student vehicles 11/14/08 @ 0850 hrs.  Assisting K-9 teams consisted of Oak Creek, Germantown, Mequon, Glendale, and Elm Grove.  K-9 Ezzo sniffed approx. 200 lockers with no indication.  No contraband was located on school premises by other K-9 teams. 

 

15)    Vehicle sniff on 11/14/08 @ 2136 hrs:  request by other Cudahy pd officers on a traffic stop for an exterior vehicle sniff.  K-9 deployed and 3 passes around vehicle conducted with no indication/alert. 

 

16)    Burglar Alarm at Factory on 11/16/08 @ 1701 hrs:  Report of a Burglar alarm inside a factory.  K-9 deployed on lead with handler to check exterior.  Exterior secure.  K-9 followed all commands given and seemed ready and excited to work. 

 

17)  Business burglar alarm/open door on 12/01/08 @ 0056hrs:  Cudahy police received a burglar alarm at affordable auto body.  Upon initial officer’s arrival, he located open garage door.  K-9 was deployed with handler and another officer following.  K-9 was deployed into officer area and when done clearing, officers would hand search.  K-9 deployed into auto body work area.  Audible alarm sounded.  K-9 did not seem affected and appeared ready and alert as he searched.  Building was cleared and alarm was linked to inclement weather.  K-9 did an excellent job considering slippery floors, loud alarm and large building with many rooms and vehicles inside.

 

18)  search warrant execution on 12/04/08 @ 1829 hrs:  Cudahy officers executed search warrant at residence in connection with a felon in possession of a firearm.  It was believed there may be possible narcotics in the upstairs bedrooms.  K-9 deployed and on first pass in the 1st bedroom, k-9 indicated on a drawer under a TV stand by sucking in tongue and aggressively sniffing drawer.  K-9 then began to scratch.  K-9 rewarded.  Inspection of drawer revealed no contraband but a marijuana pipe was located near the stand.  It is believed that the room was cleaned up since officers had initially been in the bedroom on 11/30/08.  Great job by k-9.  He was not distracted by barking dogs inside the residence. 

 

19)  Search warrant execution on 12/06/08 @ 0631 hrs:  Cudahy officers executed search warrant at residence in connection to possible marijuana grows operation.  Marijuana in plain view was removed so k-9 would not ingest items.  K-9 deployed and alerted/indicated on several locations where the marijuana had been prior to officers moving it.  K-9 also hit on vacuum cleaner.  Nothing found in vacuum.  It was later learned that resident used vacuum to clean up marijuana residue.  Great job by k-9.

20)    Narcotics sniff at Milwaukee house of corrections on 12/08/08:  assisted Milw. Co. Sheriff with k-9 sniff at hoc.  K-9 deployed into several housing units.  Negative for any alerts/indications.  K-9 from Franklin pd alerted on staff locker.  K-9 Ezzo ran past locker and also gave an aggressive alert/indication.  Locker and adjoining lockers searched with negative results.  Subject assigned to that locker has history of substance abuse.  K-9 was well behaved even with multiple other dogs and handlers on scene.

 

21)    Possible burglary at 3127 e. Underwood ave on 12/29/08  1139 hours:  request from Cudahy officers for k-9 at residence that was supposed to be vacant but the neighbor reported an open window and a garbage can under that window.  Commands were given and k-9 deployed off lead with officers following tactically behind.  K-9 did good job of clearing the residence including the basement which had a lot of clutter.  K-9 did not appear to detect human odor.  Residence was cleared by hand after and nobody was found inside.  Great job by k-9.

 

22)    Vehicle sniff incident to arrest on 12/29/08 @ 1738 hours:  this officer arrested driver of vehicle for outstanding drug warrants.  Driver stated there was nothing illegal in the vehicle.  K-9 deployed off lead.  K-9 did good job detailing inside of vehicle.  K-9 did not give any alerts/indications.  Vehicle was searched by hand and nothing was found.

 

23)    Possible burglary at 5065 s Nicholson ave # 2 on 12/29/08 @ 1938 hours:  request by other Cudahy officers for k-9 at an apartment that was possibly burglarized and unknown if subjects were still inside.  Warnings given at door and k-9 became excited.  K-9 deployed off lead with officers following tactically.  K-9 did great job clearing apartment with no indication of anyone present.  Apartment was cleared by hand with no one located.  It was later confirmed a burglary.

 

24)    Possible burglary at 3618 e martin ave on 12/29/08 @ 2306 hours:  neighbor contacted police reporting vacant house next door had lights on inside.  K-9 deployed on lead and exterior of house was checked.  Officers unable to enter residence.  K-9 was excited but maintained obedience.

 

25)    Exterior vehicle sniff requested on 12/30/08 @ 2247 hours:  St. Francis pd requesting exterior vehicle sniff of vehicle.  Subjects stated there was nothing inside vehicle.  K-9 deployed on lead and 3 passes around vehicle conducted.  K-9 did not give any alerts/indications.  Weather was very cold and windy with snow and salt on the vehicle.
