New Kid's View

Family lured Jerrianne and her husband to South Milwaukee in 2002 from Southern California where she worked as, first, a journalist, then, as a court information officer. She now stays busy with media-relations consulting, playing with her three grandchildren (part of the lure), writing, discovering her new environs, and hoping her garden will produce before the first fall frost.

Jump Start Holiday Shopping at Rotary Auction

Rotary, auction, scholarships, African safari, Packers, Brewers, Garlic Mustard Pickers

An African safari, autographed Packers and Brewers memorabilia, airline tickets, Resorts International vacation package, Trek mountain bike, UW and Marquette basketball tickets to sold-out games, entertainment and restaurant package raffles and bargain buys to kick off holiday shopping.

All of that and more, to the accompaniment of Celtic music by the Garlic Mustard Pickers, will be part of the Rotary Club of Mitchell Field (RCMF) Charitable Foundation's Annual Auction Dinner on Friday, Oct. 23, at 5:30 p.m. at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center, 5311 South Howell Ave. That's right across Howell from Mitchell International Airport.

Newsradio 620 WTMJ’s Jonathan Green will auction many valuable and highly prized items. Dozens of other great items, such as toys, tools, outdoor equipment and small appliances, and great holiday gift possibilities will be up for bid in the silent auctions. Restaurant, beverage and entertainment packages, and cash will be raffled off.

This annual event funds college scholarships for South Shore high school seniors, provides Thanksgiving baskets and assists social service agencies in the communities of Bay View, Cudahy, Franklin, Oak Creek, South Milwaukee and St. Francis, which are served by the Rotary Club of Mitchell Field, and the club's Families of the Year and Senior Citizens Prom programs. The RCMF Charitable Foundation Inc. is a 501(c)3 organization.

Reservations at $45 per person for a table of eight, includes a sit-down dinner with entree choice of Filet Mignon, Glazed Salmon or Chicken Marsala and an evening of fun and pre-holiday bargains, are available by contacting Rob Bassett (414) 350-6090 or Robofrcmf@aol.com.
