Family lured Jerrianne and her husband to South Milwaukee in 2002 from Southern California where she worked as, first, a journalist, then, as a court information officer. She now stays busy with media-relations consulting, playing with her three grandchildren (part of the lure), writing, discovering her new environs, and hoping her garden will produce before the first fall frost.
South Milwaukeean – and children’s book author – Janet Halfmann talked about her books, Little Skink’s Tail and Seven Miles to Freedom, this past Thursday on TMJ-4’s show, “The Morning Blend”.
She and fellow author Deborah Jacobs (Choices, Powers, The Same Difference), also gave details of a Summer Reading Celebration at Martha Merrell's Books in Waukesha on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Janet and Deborah are among 15 Wisconsin children’s book authors who will be reading from and signing their books.
If you missed Janet on “The Morning Blend”, you can go to the show’s website, www.themorningblend.com, click on Thursday, then click on Summer Reading Program and, finally, click on ‘click to play video’ to see the show.
With both Janet and me being members of the Wisconsin chapter of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI-Wisconsin), you’d think we would know each other. Not so. I have yet to meet her. Maybe one of these days, though. Who knows, she might be a neighbor living right around the corner!
