The Barking Lot-America's Finest Dog Blog (07/19/14)

The Barking Lot

The Barking Lot is a regular weekly feature of This Just In…Written by my lovely wife, Jennifer and me.  It opens with the weekend dog walking forecast followed by the main blog from dog lover, Jennifer. Then it’s DOGS IN THE NEWS and our close. Enjoy!

THE WEEKEND DOG-WALKING FORECAST: We grade the weather outlook for taking your pet outdoors.

TODAY:  Sunny. High of 79. "A"

SUNDAY:  Mostly Sunny. High of 82. "A"

Here’s my lovely wife, Jennifer with this week’s main blog:

My degree is in Business Management.  I’m all for capitalism.  I love an innovative idea that elicits the phrase, “Now why didn’t I think of that?”  There are some pretty off-the-wall things for sale; just watch a late-night infomercial and you’ll know what I’m talking about.  If there are people who are willing to pay for an item, service, or concept and it’s not illegal or life-threatening I’m pretty much all for it.

New fads, trendy toys, top-shelf foods (natural, organic, local, raw… you name it they’ll buy it) cute-to-couture clothing, spa services, signature jewelry, therapeutic massage, boutique hotels and specialty vacations…  if you think I’m talking about people buying these items for themselves guess again.  These are things they’re getting for their pets!

You can guess where I’m going, can’t you?  Yep… another business for already-spoiled pups has surfaced in Alexandria.  This is a first of its kind that I’m aware of but I’m sure others will soon follow (warm-up) suit.  Because just when you thought your dog had it all, he doesn’t.  He needs his own gym membership as well!  No, I’m not kidding.  If you’re looking to agility train or just relieve daily boredom, it's Frolick Dogs to the rescue!

I think some dog owners go WAY over the top.  They spend more on grooming their dog than they do their kids, and the family pooch eats higher-quality meat then the human members.  It’s not difficult to find stories of Extreme Dog Spoiling everywhere.  BUT…  Frolick Dogs seems very reasonably priced for what it offers, and it actually gets dogs and their owners to be active and healthy.  I really don’t see a downside to this concept.  I wish owners Kevin & Kim Gilliam the very best of luck in their endeavor!
