Body fat Index regulation included in stimulus bill
Complying with terms included under a stimulus bill signed by President Obama in 2009, mandated electronic health records must include Body Mass Index scores, in addition to height and weight.
According to the requirements of the 2009 economic stimulus law, health care providers will receive reduced Medicare and Medicaid payments should they fail to establish "meaningful use" of electronic records by 2014.
Regulations also require that records are able to update themselves to federal databases maintained by HHS and CDC, among others.
